SORRENTO – Curtis A. Tracy, 78, died July 8, 2009, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born March 3, 1931, in Franklin, the son of Howard and Cora (Morse) Tracy. Curtis was a U.S. Army veteran serving in South Korea during the Korean War. He married Nancy Welch, Aug. 7, 1954. He lived in Connecticut for many years, where he worked as a truck driver for the local Teamsters Union No. 493 for 32 years before retiring back to his home, the state of Maine. Curtis was a family man, and he had a great sense of humor. He was a very kind, caring, sensitive and compassionate person. Curtis was a foster parent for many years, and he was especially proud of his family; they meant the world to him. He was an avid Red Sox and NASCAR fan. Curtis left a fond imprint on everyone he met. He leaves behind his loving bride of almost 55 years, Nancy “Liz”; three daughters, Roxanne Tanguay and her husband, Ron Tanguay, Tammy Rogers and fiance, Arland Connor, and Keliee Beattie and her husband, John Beattie Jr.; two grandsons, Rob Mercer and Joshua Rogers; three granddaughters, Jessica Bein, Jacqueline Rogers and Taylor Beattie; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Sierra, Isabelle, Seth, Dillon, Noah, Arianna, Brett, Aiden, Zoey and Connor; several nephews, including Mark Ober, Earl Tracy and Richard Tracy; and extended family, Greg and Cathy Ring. He is also survived by several close brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, family names, Abbott, Bierman and Welch; and a sister, Pat Waddell. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lillian Ficket; brothers, Paul, Clifford, Kenneth and Carl Tracy; grandson, Jeffrey Rogers; along with several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all the nurses, certified nurses’ aides and doctors that cared for him and a special thank you to Debbie Scappaticci. The family invites relatives and friends for a memorial reception 4-6 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 215 Main St., Ellsworth.
