MINOT – David W. Tarr, 75, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 9, 2009, surrounded by his family at Central Maine Medical Center. David was born July 22, 1933, in Bowdoinham, son of John W. Tarr and Barbara S. Tarr. He graduated from Richmond High School in 1950 and then served three years in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a plumber in Brunswick and later owned and operated Central Wayside Furniture, Auburn, for 25 years. David was an avid outdoorsman, a lover of sports and a voracious reader. He loved spending time with his children, his grandchildren and his many friends. He enjoyed hundreds of hours cheering on his grandchildren at baseball, hockey and field hockey games, and was a lifelong Yankee fan. In all his endeavors and interests, he was joined and supported by Sondra, his loving wife of 52 years. He is survived by his wife, Sondra J. (Leonard) Tarr; his son, John W. Tarr and his wife, Dori-Anne; and his daughter, Mary Tarr Bilodeau and her husband, Michael. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Nicholas David Tarr, Adam John Tarr, Taylor Nicole Tarr, Christopher Robert Tarr, John Samuel Tarr Bilodeau and Juliana Smith Bilodeau. He was predeceased by his son, James L. Tarr. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at The Fortin Group, Auburn, where a celebration of John’s life will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday.
