WINTERPORT – Dora E. (Crooker) Rancourt, 86, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 9, 2009, surrounded by her family at her home. Dora was born March 16, 1923, in Winterport, where she lived most of her life. Dora was a welder at Bath Iron Works in 1945 and had since held many other jobs, her favorite being a mother and homemaker. She was well known for her homemade fudge and biscuits and especially enjoyed Saturday night suppers with the whole family where friends were always welcome. She enjoyed playing horseshoes, going to yard sales and meeting friends for coffee. She was predeceased by her parents, Lillian (Lane) and Maynard Crooker; her brothers, Roland, Linwood and Bernard; her twin sister, Nellie Cunningham; and her sister, Lelia. She is survived by her children, Margo Richmond, Joy Rancourt, Robin Reynolds and husband, Bob, Jeanne Caron and husband, Mike, all of Winterport, Kenneth Rancourt Jr. and wife, Susan, of Frankfort and Michael Rancourt and wife, Charlotte, of Wasilla, Alaska; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine Clement and family of Wichita, Kan.; brothers, Carl Crooker and family of Winterport and Merle Crooker and family of Hampden. She also leaves her best friend and coffee buddy, Jeannine Redmond. Family and friends may call 5-7 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 12, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport, with Pastor Chuck Langbein officiating.
