DYER BROOK and EAST MILLINOCKET – Edith M. (Fox) Hardy, 88, died July 8, 2009, with her family at her side, as she left to be with her heavenly family at her home. She was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Perham, the daughter of Ross and Vesper (Oliver) Fox. She married Dana C. Hardy, Dec. 7, 1943. Settling in Smyrna, they began their family, having two children, Richard and Linda. They soon moved to Connecticut, where she worked at the A&P store for 37 years. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Shelton Assembly of God, and member and volunteer at Ansonia Salvation Army. After retirement, she and Dana returned to Dyer Brook with their granddaughter and her children with them. She was also a member of Bethel Pentecostal Church, and a member and volunteer of Oakfield Senior Citizens and R.S.V.P. She was a very independent and strong woman, having a special faith and love of life. She loved her family and she made many friends along her life’s long journey. She is survived by a son, Richard and Joan Hardy of New Britain, Conn.; four grandchildren, Robin McNally and Richard Denis, Michael and his wife, Kim Wenzloff, Mark Wenzloff, and Daniel and his wife, Andrea Hardy; 10 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years; her daughter, Linda and her husband, Raymond Wenzloff; a great-granddaughter, Michele; six brothers, Freeman, Willard “Bill,” Maurice, Allen “Spud,” Gordon and Keith; and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” and Ruth. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Monday at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Oakfield, with funeral services beginning 11 a.m. with Pastor Sterling Lawrence officiating. Interment will be at Dyer Brook Cemetery.
