“LOITERING WITH INTENT,” by Stuart Woods, Putnam, New York, 2009, hardcover, 293 pages, $25.95.
Readers can always depend on Stuart Woods to take them away from the gray to some exotic location.
This time, Woods’ favorite protagonist, Stone Barrington, heads to Key West on a trip that should be more vacation than work. Of course, it doesn’t work out that way.
Stone is hired to get the signature of an elusive trust-fund bum on some legal papers. So he and his former police partner, Dino Bachetti, head south, hoping to sneak in a little (or a lot of) R&R after this bit of business.
But Evan Keating has had years of practice in not being found. And things get complicated, thanks to a Swedish doctor, a dead drug dealer, some convoluted family relationships and a freelance assassin, with Stone and Dino stuck in the middle of everything.
“Loitering with Intent” is another breezy read from the part-time MDI resident, the perfect beach book. Now, if only we could finally get some beach weather.
