WINTERPORT – Dwight C. Worcester Sr., 76, passed away peacefully July 12, 2009, at his home. Dwight was born Aug. 20, 1932, in Columbia, to the late Verrill and Erma (White) Worcester. Dwight grew up and attended school in Columbia Falls. He then served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. Dwight was a lab technician at the University of Maine’s Agriculture Engineering Department. He deeply enjoyed the outdoors and everything the seasons had to bring, especially hunting, fishing and harvesting blueberries on the family farm. He took great pride in his family and loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Another passion of Dwight’s were his many faithful dogs of both the past and present. Dwight will be forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Marilyn (Reinhart) Worcester of Winterport; children, Dwight C. Worcester Jr. and spouse, Barbara, of Winterport, David A. Worcester and wife, Susan, of Brewer, and Meridee Worcester of Winterport; special grandchildren, Megan A. Worcester of Rumford, Michael Worcester of Brewer, Kyle I. Worcester and Brittany J.M. Worcester, both of Winterport; brothers, Verrill “Sonny” Worcester Jr., Everett Worcester and wife, Lee, Julia Worcester, Joyce Hillard, and Cassie Hardwick and husband, Jim; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dwight was predeceased by his brother, David Worcester. A memorial service celebrating Dwight’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves of North Brewer-Eddington United Methodist Church, officiating. Family and friends are invited to visit 10 a.m. until the time of service. After the memorial service, all are invited to an informal gathering to share in light refreshments and a continued time of remembrance at Dwight Jr.’s home, 269 Lebanon Road, Winterport.
