HOULTON – Frederick Irvin Russell, 58, died July 8, 2009, in Houlton, with his family by his side, after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Frederick was born May 8, 1951, in Island Falls, the son of Horace B. Russell Sr. and Addie Louise (Lilley) Russell of Smyrna Mills. He graduated from Oakfield High School, Class of 1970. Frederick served in the Marine Corps. He worked several years for Guyfriel & Sons of Smyrna, J.P. Levesque of Ashland, George Arnold Roach of Smyrna, and Dale Boutlier & Katahdin Forest Products of Oakfield, before he became disabled. Frederick was predeceased by his father, Horace Russell Sr.; brother, Lewis; and grandson, Tyson Sharp. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Alma (Fowler) Russell; his mother, Addie (Lilley) Russell of Smyrna Mills; three daughters, Donna (Russell) Morton and husband, David, of Ashland, Beth Russell and friend, ATU, of Lake Mary, Fla., and Marie Fowler and her fiance, Jason Parent, of Limestone; one brother, Horace Russell Jr. and his wife, Denise, of Smyrna Mills; two sisters, Joyce (Russell) Ouellette and her husband, Rodney, of Saint Francis, and Rhonda (Russell) Ouellette and her husband, Delmer, of Fort Kent; seven grandchildren, Travis Sharp Jr., Evan Morton, Aleece Sharp, Taylor Morton, Evelyn Morton, Spencer Sharp, and Madison Sharp; two sisters-in-law, Pamela Woolsey and her husband, Jack, of Rifle, Colo., and Nacie Fowler of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews. The family thanks Hospice of Aroostook; Jane, Debbie, Nacie, Kim, Addie, Hal and Apria Services; the support we received from Madigan Estates, Jessie Drysdale, Sterling Lawrence, Deacon Al Burleigh, James Gardiner and all the others who have stopped by; and the new friends at Military Street Apartments. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. July 18 at Merrill Cemetery with Jessie Drysdale officiating. Donations may be made to Alma Russell, 95 Military St., Apt. 220, Houlton, ME 04730. Arrangements are under the care of Direct Cremation of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
