OLD TOWN – Edmund “Ed” L. Sirois, 81, a lifelong resident of Old Town, died July 18, 2009, surrounded by his family, at his home. He was born June 25, 1928, in Old Town, the son of Archie and Hilda (Dubay) Sirois. Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for A&P Foods for 44 years, retiring in 1989. He was a proud member of Old Town Knights of Columbus No. 2537, third and fourth degree, where he served his council as grand knight in 1969 and 1970, and many years as a trustee. He also served the state council Knights of Columbus as a district deputy and state membership director, and was a member of Holy Family Parish. He was honored to have knighted his son, Gary; and grandson, Nicholas, into the fourth degree. Ed took pride in his gardening and in his early years he took care of other properties in Old Town and passed on his love of gardening to his family and friends. He was also a Lionel Train enthusiast. Ed is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Constance (Thibodeau) Sirois of Old Town; his four children, Frances and her husband, David Woodard, of Abbeville, Miss., Roger Sirois and his wife, Pam, Gary Sirois and his wife, Pattie, all of Old Town and Peter Sirois and his wife, Maureen, of Toronto; two brothers, Franklin Sirois and his wife, Verle, and Kenneth Sirois and his wife, Charlene, all of Old Town; one aunt, Jeannette Dubay of Bangor; sisters-in-law, Polly Thibodeau of Bath, Doris Sirois of New Jersey and Raeanne Pelletier of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife, Mariah, Cherilyn, Brian and his wife, Johannah, Kevin and fiancee, Kristy Michaud, Shane and his fiancee, Ronda Adams, Michael, Christine and Jacqueline; and was very proud of his four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Emma, Haley and Lilyanah; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Phoebe Sirois, Frances Huyett and Mildred Clement; and his brothers, Archie and Bernard. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. by the officers and members of the Knights of Columbus. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord – Holy Family Parish, Old Town, with the Rev. Thomas Farley and the Rev. Rudolph Leveille, concelebrants. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Old Town. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall after the interment.
