ALTON – Ray S. Hamm, 45, died unexpectedly July 18, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 20, 1963, in Bangor, a son of James A. Jr. and Regina R. (Ellis) Hamm. Ray’s goal was to inspire his sons to grow up to become strong, independent men of integrity. Tyler and Cody were his strength and purpose for living. His sense of humor was a pleasure for all who knew and loved him. He was a master of playing practical jokes on friends and family from the time he was a child. Ray was a special gift to all who knew him, especially his family. He was a brother and father that showed us how to live life to the fullest. Ray loved the outdoors and was one with nature. His greatest joys were taking his boys hunting and fishing and watching them play sports. He was so proud. Ray is survived by his sons, Tyler and Cody; his mother, Regina Hamm; siblings, Judy Comeau and her husband, Joseph, of Milo, Patty Palmer of Hampden, Paulette Borja and her husband, Ron, of Alton, Eileen Carver and her husband, David, of Bradford, James Hamm and his wife, Debra, of Alton, Eva McLaughlin and her husband, Fred, of Alton and Jessie Michaud and her husband, Leo, of Milford; the mother of his children, Candace Hamm and her family; the Ellis extended family; a good friend and fishing buddy, “Uncle” George Hartmann of Medford; his canine companion and best bud, Burton; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. There will be no formal funeral services.
