BROOKTON – Brian Arnold Young Sr., 61, husband of Wanda (Kinney) Young, entered into his eternal rest with his Lord and Savior, July 19, 2009, at home, with family by his side, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 4, 1948, in Danforth, the youngest child of Hubert and Ruth (Cropley) Young. After graduating from East Grand High School in 1966, Brian enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as an engineer in the 577th Engineering Company in Vietnam. He worked mostly in the logging industry as a heavy equipment operator on various machines and, in the last few years, as a truck driver for Shay Bros. Logging. Brian’s devotion to his family was evidenced in his dedication and support of his family. He delighted in spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and after his illness, became fond of watching and feeding the birds and identifying the different species that made his back yard their home. In addition to his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Wanda of Brookton, he is survived by two sons, Brian and his wife, Susan, of Attleboro, Mass., and Russell and his wife, Tracy, of Bucksport; a daughter, Katrina Young and her fiance, Joseph Franklin, of Brookton; three perfect grandchildren, whom he adored, Patrick Brian Young, Christopher Brian Young and Sydney Elizabeth Young; four sisters, Christina Moody, Patricia Fry and her husband, Douglas, Althea Rouse and her husband, Thomas, and Irene Malone and her husband, Larry; a brother, Laurel Young and his wife, Margaret; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and one special nephew, Arnold Moody Jr. of Connecticut. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three siblings. The family would like to express their deep gratitude for the help and support offered by Visiting Nurses of Aroostook Hospice.
