BANGOR – Beatrice M. Dahl-gren went home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, July 20, 2009. She was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Washburn, the daughter of Godfrey and Grace (Wilson) Dahlgren. Beatrice grew up in Washburn and graduated from Washburn High School. After high school she attended Beauty Culture School, Lewiston and worked for several years as a beautician at Rita’s Beauty Salon, Bangor. After retiring from hairdressing she worked at Eastern Maine Medical Center in the medical records department until she retired. Beatrice was a long standing member of First Baptist Church, Bangor, where she taught Sunday school, served as a deaconess and was an active member of Arad Thompson Church Club. One of her greatest joys in life was attending concerts preformed by the Bangor Symphony Orchestra. Beatrice was predeceased by her parents; and two sisters, Eva Gurley of Bellevue, Wash., and Helen McCready of East Greenwich, R.I. She is survived by sisters, Edith Cruise of Warwick, R.I., and Julia Ballard and husband, Vincent, of Presque Isle; two nieces, Lynn McCready-Manna of Peabody, Mass., and Sharon Ballard of Stetson; and nephew, Michael Gurley of Gig Harbor, Wash. Beatrice spent the last nine years of her life residing at Stillwater Health Care, Bangor. The family extends sincere gratitude and appreciation to Stillwater Health Care for the excellence of care, dedication of staff, and the unconditional love and kindness that Beatrice received while residing there. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 22 at First Baptist Church, Bangor, with Pastor Stephanie Salinas officiating. A luncheon and time to celebrate Beatrice’s life will be held immediately after the service at the church.
