STUART, Fla. – Gloria Marie “Sam” (Cyr) Baertsch passed from this life July 19, 2009. Cherished wife for 42 years of Paul L. Baertsch, and beloved mother of Aaron Cyr Baertsch, Sam succumbed to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – Lou Gehrig’s disease – at her home on Hutchinson Island, Fla. Born Sept. 1, 1946, in Van Buren, she grew up in Fort Fairfield. She began her journey in art while living in the Minneapolis area. An accomplished artist, world traveler and voracious reader, she touched many souls during her lifetime. She was a member of Literacy Society, Martin County Library Foundation and Planned Parenthood. Sam was predeceased by her father, Roland W. Cyr Sr.; and her brother, John Mark. In addition to her husband, Paul; and son, Aaron, Sam is survived by her mother, Marie L. Cyr; her brothers and sisters, Roland W. Cyr Jr. and Ruth, Barbara N. Good and Brock, Marjorie A. Adams and Charles, E. Katherine Aron and Ken, J. Kevin Cyr and Melissa; as well as nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; and of course, her very large circle of friends. A memorial celebration of her life is to be held at a later date. Memorial donations to Florida ALS Association, Treasure Coast Hospice or Martin County Library Foundation.
