NEWBURGH and BANGOR – Pauline L. (Craven) Toothaker, 84, passed away July 22, 2009, at a Brunswick hospital. Pauline was born May 31, 1925, in Newburgh, to the late Harry J. and Grace (Grant) Craven. Pauline grew up in Newburgh and was a graduate of Hampden Academy. She then served her country by entering the Nurse Corps in Maryland. Due to an illness she was discharged and returned home, where she was employed by New England Telephone as a telephone operator. Pauline enjoyed raising her three children and attending their activities, especially Girl Scouts, where she was a leader for many years. She was an avid dancer; she became the hostess and co-founder of Southern Charm Dance Club in 1991 and was one of the major leaders who hosted the holiday dinners. She loved traveling, flower gardening, and was an active member of the YMCA Arts and Crafts Club. Pauline will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Pauline is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Llewellyn Toothaker; son, Dr. John L. Toothaker and wife, Kristina; daughters, Ms. Paula Toothaker, and Dr. Angela Perron and companion, Anthony Genovese; and grandchildren, Mrs. Kelley Toothaker Dow and husband, Ben, and Mr. Ben Woodruf. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, with the Rev.
