WILMINGTON, Del., MECHANICSVILLE, Va., and BAR HARBOR – Berenice “Bebe” (Beard) Candage, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 7, 2009, surrounded by her family in Wilmington, Del. She was born July 5, 1922, in Claremont, N.H., the daughter of George and Etta Beard. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 41 years, Byron Whitefield Candage; her older sister, Helen Vincent; and twin brothers, Richard and Leroy Beard. Bebe is survived by her three daughters, Diane Wicker and her husband, Tom, of Norfolk, Va., Jean Miyashiro and her husband, Peter, of Wilmington, Del., and Joan Crowther and her husband, Steve, of Fredericksburg, Va.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Christopher Wicker of Laurel, Md., Tim Miyashiro and his wife, Nicole, and their son, Niko, of Madison, Wis., Michelle Wicker and her daughter, Jordynne, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Todd Miyashiro of Wilmington, Del., and Nathan Crowther of Fredericksburg, Va. Bebe spend her childhood in Bar Harbor and graduated from Wheelock College, Boston. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed watching sports, traveling, reading, needlecrafts, knitting and bowling. Her gentle smile and supportive listening style brought great joy and comfort to those near her. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at St. Jude’s Episcopal – Summer Church, Seal Harbor. Burial will be afterward at Seal Harbor Cemetery.
