PLEASANT POINT – Carolyn Francis has gone home with the Lord July 26, 2009, with her family and friend at her side after a long illness. Carolyn was born Dec. 12, 1952, in Eastport, daughter of Margaret and Edgar Quinn of Perry. She graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1973. Carolyn dedicated 16 years caring for the elderly, whom she loved dearly, as a certified nurses’ aide and activity director. For 10 years Carolyn opened her heart and home for needy children as a foster parent for Tribal and State children. She had a heart of gold. Carolyn was an active member of Washington Street Baptist Church as missionary treasurer and also sang in the church choir. She helped organize the Baptist youth camp and held a “Good News Club” for all the children in her home. She always had her own way of making children smile. Carolyn enjoyed figure skating, taking walks and horseback riding. She was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Homan; and brother, Phillip Quinn. Surviving are her loving husband, John A. Francis; son, John Francis Jr. and his wife, Claire, of England; daughter, Glenda Francis of Pleasant Point; foster daughter, Jasmine Francis and her companion, Bert Toni; five grandchildren, Jacob and Heidi of England, Aurora, Allen and John of Pleasant Point; sister, Patricia Degon and her husband, Jim, of Poland Springs; brothers, Chester and Richard, both of Calais; many nieces and nephews. Carolyn will also be fondly missed by her extended Francis family. Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 27, at Perry Bible Fellowship Church with the Rev. Gillan J. Soucy officiating. Burial will take place 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, at Clarkside Cemetery, Pembroke.
