EDDINGTON – Raymond “Old Dad” W. Clewley, 72, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at a Brewer health care facility. He was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Bangor, the son of Adelbert and Margaret (Grant) Clewley. After school Ray joined the U.S. Air Force and met his wife, Ada, while stationed in England. He enjoyed a 30-year career as a mechanic for the University of Maine, Orono. Ray liked watching NASCAR, raising animals and spending time with his friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ada (Down) Clewley; sons, Peter Clewley of Eddington and Shawn and his wife, Julie, of Clifton; grandchildren, Nichole McLeod and her husband, James, of Holden and Joey Clewley of Clifton; great-grandchild, Roman McLeod of Holden; brother, Lawrence Clewley; sisters, Merry Baker, Hazel Ouellette, Thelma Giggey, Phyllis Gill and Doris Lovely; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ray was predeceased by sisters, Dora Floyd and Bertha Manzo. Services will be private.
