LINCOLN – Ralph Francis Boss, 69, husband of Doris (Deschaine) Boss, died Aug. 4, 2009, their 50th wedding anniversary, at his home, after a long and courageous battle with ALS. He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in East Millinocket, the youngest son of Arthur R. “Bucky” Boss Sr. and Helen Margaret (Sickels) Boss. Ralph was a graduate of Schenk High School, Class of 1957. He worked for Federico Brothers, during his school years and attended Maine Vocational Technical Institute, South Portland. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended Basic and Supply School at Fort Dix, N.J. He then worked for American Gear Co., Bangor and Millinocket. He also worked as service manager for several local car dealerships, most recently, Thornton Brothers, Lincoln. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department. He was also employed by Clay Funeral Home for many, many years. In addition to his wife, Doris, of Lincoln; he is survived by four children, Ralph A Boss and Shelley, of Bellevue, Fla., Christine Pepin and Gary of Madison, Ellen Hardison and Ronald of Waltham and Patrick Boss and Lisa of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a brother, Lawrence Boss and Marion of East Millinocket; 12 grandchildren, Anna, Maryanne, Danielle, Richard, Amanda, Laura, Morgan, Lucas, Travis, Kelly, Kyle and Nicholas; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Boss Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Alice Boss. Friends may call 10-11:30 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated noon Friday at St. Mary of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev Myles Cyr officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery.
