DANFORTH – Philip E. Morse, 72, husband of Dianne (Lisheness) Morse, passed away Aug. 3, 2009, at his home. He was born July 26, 1937, in Danforth, son of Leo and Annie (Ouellette) Morse. Philip graduated from Danforth High School in 1955. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and attended Ricker College. For 26 years he was a foreman in the woods working for Georgia Pacific and from 1989 to 1994, he operated his own logging business, and for years operated a deer farm. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, and was a registered Maine guide for several years. He served the town of Danforth as selectman for a number of years, as well as being on the school board. He was girl’s basketball coach for one year and was an active supporter of Danforth Alumni Association. In addition to his wife, Dianne; he is survived by four daughters, Elise Morse of Phoenix, Teresa Hanington and her husband, Stephen, of Reed Plantation, Jacqueline Jones and her husband, Thomas, of Weston and Nancy Hickman and her husband, Ron, of Lusby, Md.; a son, Philip Morse Jr., and Michelle O’Keefe of Danforth; nine grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Eric and Danielle Hanington, Tyler, Dustin, Nicholas and Lauren Morse, and Noah and Alayna Hickman; a great-granddaughter, Abigail Hanington; two sisters, Lucille Bailey of Danforth and Madeline Jenson of California; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Morse of Spring Lake, N.C., and Janice Morse of Ellsworth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Bernard, Lawrence, William and Joseph; and a sister, Clarice Nichols. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Clay Funeral Home-Bartlett Chapel, 24 Houlton Road, Danforth, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Roger Cyr presiding. Interment will be at Danforth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to either St. Ann’s Church, or East Grand Outdoor Education, care of Dianne Morse, P.O.
