Vice President JD Vance will speak in Brewer next week.
The Republican is scheduled to deliver remarks at noon Monday at CompoTech, a University of Maine spin-off company that manufactures blast- and ballistic-resistant structures for the defense industry. Vance’s office offered first-come, first-serve tickets for the event on Thursday.
The stop would mark the vice president’s second visit to the Bangor area this year. He last came to Maine in May, drawing a packed hangar at Bangor International Airport where he accused Gov. Janet Mills of failing to crack down on Medicaid fraud and boosted former Gov. Paul LePage’s bid for the 2nd Congressional District.
A notice of the event was sent Thursday to Maine Republicans by Vance’s office, calling it an “official messaging event.” It does not specify the subject of Vance’s remarks, though the venue could point to a focus on President Donald Trump’s defense or manufacturing policies.
Vance’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the event.
