STACYVILLE – Gloria D. McAvoy, 71, wife of Richard McAvoy, died Aug. 5, 2009, at her home. She was born June 20, 1938, in Levant, the daughter of Omar and Shirley (Pullen) Adams. Gloria was a devout Catholic and was very involved with St. Benedict Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, Benedicta. In addition to her husband, Richard of Stacyville, she is survived by six children, Patricia Longway and her companion, Chris Wing, of Buxton, Gail Nason and her companion, Philip Ware, of Bangor, Carl Tozier and his wife, Leigh, of Macwahoc, Cheryl Willett and her husband, Alen, of Sherman, Kevin McAvoy and his companion, Cheryl Brackett, of Grindstone and Kimberly Lane and her husband, David, of Sherman; 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 10 brothers and sisters. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Robert Tozier Jr.; and a sister, Verna Adams. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Benedicta, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Joel Cyr presiding.
