FORT KENT – Lewella “Kiki” Fitzherbert, 81, passed away peacefully Aug. 5, 2009, at a Fort Kent health care facility. Lewella was born Jan. 29, 1928, in St. Francis, to Emile and Laura (Guimond) Bourgoin. She worded for many years as a telephone operator and secretary for Michaud’s Insurance Co., but the work she loved and found the most rewarding was when she was helping the elderly through the Aroostook Agency on Aging and ACAP. Lewella’s favorite pastimes were going to Mass, playing cards, watching television, and dining out with friends and relatives. She is survived by her son, Larry Fitzherbert and his wife, Judy, of Fort Kent; the twins, Carla Albert of St. John and Caryn Cyr and her life partner, Alfred Leick, of Glenburn; two brothers, Roger Bourgoin of St. John and James Bourgoin of Fort Kent; two sisters, Laurine Savage and Mary Ellen Daigle, both of Fort Kent; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Lewella lived her life with incredible strength and courage. Although she suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for many years, she always expressed gratitude for her many blessings and her love for family and friends. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no viewing. Family and friends are asked to attend a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent. A reception to celebrate Lewella’s life will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall after the church services.
