DEXTER – Merle H. Cromwell, 93, died Aug. 7, 2009, at a Dexter nursing home. He was born Oct. 1, 1915, in Harmony, son of Arthur and Blanch (Gifford) Cromwell. Merle lived for most of his life in Harmony, where he worked as a woodsman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany near the Rhine River. He is survived by two sons, Galen Cromwell and Tim Cromwell, both of Connecticut; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
