MOUNT CHASE – Herbert Cecil Carver Sr., 81, passed away peacefully Aug. 8, 2009, at his home. He was a passionate outdoorsman who enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. As a woodsman, he spent many winters in the logging camps and was involved in the last drive on the river. Later, he co-owned and operated Carver Forest Products. Herb enjoyed playing his guitar at Patten Pentecostal Church, where he was a member. He is survived by Shirley, his wife of 63 years; children, Sandra and her husband, Bruce McNally, of Hersey, Lucinda and her husband, Jim Beane, of Mount Vernon, Catherine James of Patten, Loretta Ventimiglia of Salamanca, N.Y., Herbert Carver Jr. and Jill of Mount Chase; sisters, Laura Mitchell of Mount Chase and Dorothy Myshrall of Houlton; brother, Adrian Carver of Houlton; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews. Herbert also has many cousins in the U.S. and Canada. He was predeceased by parents, Orlando and Bertha Carver; brothers, Benjamin, Vernon and Boyd; sister, Charelette McKenney; and great-granddaughter, Christina Heath. Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Patten Pentecostal Church.
