HUDSON – William E. Briggs, 59, died Aug. 10, 2009, at home. He was born July 11, 1950, in Old Town, the son of George and Hortense (Sibley) Briggs. He is survived by his wife, Iva (Winget) Briggs of Hudson; three children and two stepchildren, William Briggs of Tennessee, Gail Swinford of Indiana, Valerie Johnson of Bangor, Frances Wardal of Tennessee and Curtis Briggs of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, David Briggs of Florida, Arthur Briggs of Florida and Clinton Briggs of Charleston; and two sisters, Linda Smith of Jonesport and Gwendolyn Farren of Cherryfield. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Hudson Baptist Church, corner of Route 221 and Route 43 – Old Town Road, Hudson, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, presiding.
