MILLINOCKET – Arthur L. Nadeau, 66, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2009, at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Feb. 9, 1943, in Millinocket, son of Edmund L. and Cecile A. (Thibodeau) Nadeau. Arthur was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1962. He was employed as an electrician at Great Northern Paper Co., until his retirement. Arthur served his country in the National Guard for four years. He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1521, Millinocket, and was a large contributor to the Elks National Foundation. He also enjoyed giving back to the community by volunteering for several local community services, and was a parishioner of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, Millinocket. Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family and friends more than anything. Arthur is survived by three sisters, Nadine Bohannan of Connecticut, Mary A. Nadeau, and Anita Blaisdell and her husband, Loren, all of Millinocket; two brothers, Joseph Ronald Nadeau and his wife, Helen, of South Portland and Robert Nadeau of Vero Beach, Fla.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by siblings, Alden, Edmond, Wayne, William, Richard, Wela and Gilda. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a memorial service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the officers and members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1521. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at St. Martin of Tours of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Graveside committal services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Arthur may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
