HAMPDEN – Myrtle E. Scrutchfield, 77, passed away peacefully Aug. 17, 2009, at her home. Myrtle was born Oct. 27, 1931, in East Holden, to the late James C. and Estelle (Boyle) Irving. Myrtle grew up in Brewer and graduated from Brewer High School. She then married her husband, Bobby, Nov. 17, 1950, and started her family of six children. Myrtle will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. Myrtle is survived by her husband of 58 years, Bobby R. Scrutchfield of Hampden; and children, Karen Scrutchfield of Hampden, William Scrutchfield and wife, Karen, of Buxton and their children, Amy, Dylan and Leah, Jody Scrutchfield of Lewiston, Andrew Scrutchfield and wife, Kristina, of Portland and their children, Zachary and Abbigail, Allan Scrutchfield of Dover, Del., and Lois Scrutchfield of Hampden and her child, Ethan. Myrtle was predeceased by seven siblings. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at Lakeview Cemetery, Western Avenue, Hampden, with the Rev. Dr. Tracy Reeves officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Myrtle’s memory may be made to Pine Tree Society, P.O. Box 518, Bath, ME 04530.
