BREWER – Thomas “Cupcake” Watson McLaughlin, 64, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, surrounded by his family at a Brewer health care facility after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Jan. 10, 1945, in Bangor, the son of the late Daniel and Cecelia (Watson) McLaughlin. Tom was a 1963 graduate of John Bapst High School. After high school, he worked at Eastern Fine Paper before starting his own business, Tom McLaughlin Painting and Drywalling. He was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, and was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. Tom is survived by two sisters, Anastatia McCann and her husband, Donald, of Gilbert, Ariz., and Teresa Dore and her husband, Richard, of Brewer; three brothers, Daniel H. and his wife, Carol, of Brewer, Timothy E. and his wife, Gloria, of Orrington, and Michael J. and his wife, Donna, of Brewer; 13 nieces and nephews, Teresa (McCann) Jackman and her husband, Greg, of North Carolina, Vicki (McCann) Thompson and her husband, Steve, Patrick McCann, all of Arizona, Kate (McCann) Harwood and her husband, Chris, of California, Laurie (Dore) Richards and her husband, Cory, of Brewer, Christopher Dore and his wife, Darcy, of Holden, Michael Dore of Portland, Wendy (McLaughlin) Morse and her husband, Jeff, of New Hampshire, Mark McLaughlin of Brewer, Tammy and T.J. McLaughlin of Orrington, Amy (McLaughlin) Nadeau and her husband, Chris, of Brewer, and Michelle McLaughlin of Portland; many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer. A time of continued fellowship will be held immediately afterward.
