MILLINOCKET – Lucille McNamara Morrison, 82, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family Aug. 17, 2009, after a prolonged illness. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, the daughter of Yvette Gonya McNamara and Donald McNamara. Lucille graduated from Stearns High School in 1944 and remained close to her classmates throughout her lifetime. She attended Bryant College, Boston, and began her career at Millinocket Trust Co., retiring from Northeast Bank as assistant vice president in 1979. She married Richard “Dick” Morrison, in 1950. They lovingly raised two daughters and rejoiced in the birth of two granddaughters and one great-grandson. In addition to working full-time and raising a family, Lucille found time to keep the cleanest house in Millinocket! She loved preparing family dinners, especially during holiday times and her home was always open to neighbors and friends. She showed her kindness and compassion in many ways, but especially sending cards for any and all occasions to family, friends and acquaintances. Her other interests included solving word games, knitting, reading and watching Wheel of Fortune. There weren’t many puzzles she couldn’t solve ahead of the most astute contestants. Lucille was a devout Catholic, her faith kept her strong when her health let her down. She was a member of St. Martin of Tours Church, where she was baptized, married and now celebrated in death. She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years; her two daughters, Nancy Moscone and her husband, Tony, of East Millinocket, and Gail Fanjoy and her husband, Bob, of Millinocket; and her two granddaughters, who were the lights of her life, Lindsay Corson and her husband, Patrick, of Ellsworth, and Julia Duross and her husband, Matt, of Lyman. The last three years of her life were blessed with the addition of a great-grandson, Isiah Robert Corson. She also leaves a loving and dedicated sister, Sylvia Ann McNamara, who took a prominent role in caring for her in her declining years. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Maryjane McNamara, Violet Neal and Ethel Cian-chette; and a brother-in-law, Fred Morrison and his wife, Leatha; several cousins, many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, John McNamara; and in-laws, Donald Morrison, Roderic Morrison, Geraldine Tara, Marguerite Doane, Grace Greene and Eleanor Horne. The family thanks Community Health and Counseling’s Hospice Program, especially Donna Graham, and the many private caregivers who supported Lucille so she could live in her home with dignity and independence. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at St. Martin of Tours of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, 19 Colby St., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider. Interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery.
