DEXTER and MECHANICS-VILLE, Md. – Geneva E. (Kenney) Wheeler, 64, passed away July 8, 2009, at the home of her daughter. She was born Dec. 7, 1944, in Belfast, daughter of the late Albert and Alice Kenney. Genie will be lovingly remembered for her thoughtful, caring ways, and for her love and appreciation for life. She was particularly fond of wildlife and especially enjoyed her bird feeder; the red cardinal was her favorite. Her many trips and coffee stops with family and friends will be greatly missed. She courageously without complaint battled cancer to which she no longer is a victim. She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Percy Kenney; sisters, Doris Lape, Mildred Sukeforth, Ruth Le Briton and Margaret Sanborn. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Horace Wheeler; daughters, Molly Hustus and husband, Paul, and July Purdy and husband, Robert; one son, Edward Dorman II and fiancee, Amanda; nine grandchildren, Mitchell, Ethan, Deanna, Paul Jr., Sean, Brenden, Kelly, Devon and Kerry; two great-grandchildren, Duane and Phillip; sisters, Dorothy Burleigh and husband, Lawrence, Wilma Cameron, Nancy Greenleaf and Betty Lou Spiewak; brother, David Kenney; many nieces and nephews, and several cousins. Graveside committal services will be held 2 p.m. Sept. 11 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Etna, and a get-together will be immediately after at American Legion Post No. 73, Corinna.
