PRESQUE ISLE and FORT FAIRFIELD – Roger Philip Tremblay, 89, husband of Monique (Bernier) Tremblay, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, Aug. 20, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at his Presque Isle residence, after a brief illness. He was born Nov. 17, 1919, in La Tuque, Quebec, the son of Romeo and Lena (Milliard) Tremblay. In 1925 Roger became a resident of Fort Fairfield, where he received his education. He was married to Monique Bernier, Oct. 23, 1943, and received his Q.A. degree in pharmacy in 1956 and his registered pharmacist degree in 1971. Roger owned and operated Fort Fairfield Drug Co., where he served his community for more than 30 years until his retirement in 1988. Roger was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church – Parish of the Precious Blood, Fort Fairfield; a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 1753, Fort Fairfield, where he served as Grand Knight for two years; and was a past member of Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce, where he served on the board of directors. He was also a member of American Pharmaceutical Association, Maine Pharmaceutical Association, National Association of Retail Druggist, and was past president of Aroostook Pharmaceutical Association. In addition to his parents, Roger was predeceased by one brother, Louis Tremblay. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mrs. Monique Tremblay of Presque Isle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Anna Tremblay, and Michael and Roberta Tremblay; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann and John Russell, all of Fort Fairfield; one brother, Edwin Tremblay of Rimouski, Quebec; one sister, Gertrude Levesque of Montreal; five grandchildren, Sean Russell and his wife, Kathryn, of Manchester, N.H., Jason Tremblay of Presque Isle, Matthew Tremblay of Alexandria, Va., Julie Fidler and her husband, Victor, of Prides Crossing, Mass., and Katie Tremblay of Concord, N.H.; three great-grandchildren, Quinn and Colin Fidler of Prides Crossing, Mass., and Courtney Marie Russell of Manchester, N.H.; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 21, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a vigil service will be conducted 7:30 p.m. by the Rev. Aaron Damboise. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at St. Denis Catholic Church – Parish of the Precious Blood, 147 Main St., Fort Fairfield, with the Rev. Aaron Damboise, celebrant. The interment service will be conducted after the Mass at St. Denis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Fairfield.
