BAR HARBOR – Clifford Dunton, 67, died Aug. 20, 2009, at his residence after a short illness. He was born Nov. 19, 1941, in Bar Harbor, the son of Leslie I. and Dorothy A. (Reed) Dunton. Clifford had been a lifelong gardener. He worked for the Bar Harbor Club and Kenarden Estate for many years. He was an avid fisherman and loved his times at Abrams Pond with family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Sandra (Bragdon) Dunton; sons, Timothy and wife, Diane, of New Gloucester and Leslie and fiancee, Heather, of Sullivan; daughter, Holly Dunton of Bar Harbor; brothers, Walter “Skip” Dunton of Bar Harbor and Irving Dunton of Franklin; and grandchildren, Alex, Justin, Macee, Maleea, Molly and Maddy. He was predeceased by a son, Jeffrey Paul Dunton; and two sisters, Alberta Strout and Claudine Farnsworth. Calling hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Eden Baptist Church.
