SAN FRANCISCO – Daren J. Bishop, 37, passed away Aug. 15, 2009, surrounded by family and loved ones, at a San Francisco hospital, after a choking accident. Daren was born May 10, 1972, in Bangor, the middle son of Robert and Norma (Martin) Bishop of Henderson, Nev., and Presque Isle. Genuinely warm, compassionate and charitable, Daren’s intense curiosity and eternal optimism were just a few of the qualities that made him so special – to so many. He grew up in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High School and Philips Exeter Academy, lettering in football and wrestling. Daren graduated from Williams College, Williamstown, Mass., where he majored in biology and continued to compete in wrestling and football. At the time of his death, he was employed by Wells Fargo Bank, San Francisco. In addition to his parents, Daren is survived by his two brothers, Marc and wife, Stacey Bishop, of Palo Alto, Calif., and Brian Bishop of San Francisco. Other survivors include his grandmother, Anna May (Gillespie) Bishop of Presque Isle; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins, too numerous to mention. Daren was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Roland and Mae (Nadeau) Martin of St. Francis; and his maternal grandfather, Lewis Bishop of Presque Isle. A celebration of life for Daren is scheduled Sept. 19 at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Presque Isle, in the fall.
