PALM BAY, Fla. – John Leroy Brown, 50, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, at Shand’s of UF after a long battle with heart failure. He was born June 2, 1959, to John W. Brown and B. Helen Lyons. John was a strong and loving man who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and lived life to the fullest. He was a hard worker and succeeded in getting what he wanted in life. He loved to go fishing whether in Florida or in Maine and had many fond memories of the years he played softball with L.E. Norwood & Sons. After becoming disabled in 2006 he had taken up photography and gardening. It gave him great pleasure to take pictures of his family and wildlife while vacationing with his wife. He was a very special man who will be immensely missed by all who knew him. In death John was able to give someone else a chance at life by being an organ donor. His liver was received on Tuesday morning and many others will benefit from the generosity of his donation. John is survived by his wife of 20 years, Pamela (Harmon) Brown; father, John W. Brown; grandmother, Annie Waite; four sisters, Angelia Clement, April Whitmore, Samantha Urquhart and Tabatha Decibus; two brothers, Leroy Brown and Dean Mitchell; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, B. Helen Rich; and his grandfathers. A memorial service to celebrate John’s life, will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at Thompson’s Island, Trenton, with Pastor Steve Sobel officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association. Please remember to be an organ donor at www.donatelifenewengland.org.
