MARS HILL – Kathleen Gilman, 94, wife of the late Earl Gilman, died Aug. 21, 2009, at a local hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Easton, the daughter of William and Jessie (Lovene) Hersey. She was a member of Mars Hill United Methodist Church, where she was an active member of United Methodist Women. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Brewer and her husband, Robie, of Blaine; a son, Bill Gilman and his wife, Wanda, of Missouri; grandchildren, Maurice, Barbara Jo and Bart McCrum, Peter, Patti and Abbi Brewer, John, Charles, Dwana, Brett, Kori and Kevin Gilman, and Beth and Scott Hersey; 15 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Linwood Hersey and Edward Gilman; a grandchild, Andrew Hersey; a daughter-in-law, Della Gilman; and a special friend, Eugene Gilman. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mars Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sue Brown officiating. Relatives and friends may call noon until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be at Sanborn Cemetery, Robinson. The family has requested that gifts in her name be made to House of Comfort Hospice House Foundation, P.O. Box 766, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
