MADAWASKA and AUGUSTA – Yvette R. Fournier, 84, passed away Aug. 18, 2009, in Augusta, after a long, courageous journey with dementia. Yvette was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the daughter of Edmond and Jeanne (Ouellette) Pelletier. After graduating from high school in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Yvette attended Joan of Arc Commercial School, Ottawa. She worked for Canadian National Railroad – CNR, Edmundston, New Brunswick. She was married to Dr. Rino Y. Fournier for 42 years. Her husband predeceased her June 11, 1989. For many years she supported her husband’s medical practice by tirelessly handling all aspects of his home-based office in Madawaska. In retirement, the part of the year that she spent in Florida with family and friends brought her much joy. For years she enjoyed reading, music and travel. We are grateful for the love she gave us in our lives. She is survived by her son, Paul Fournier and his wife, Patricia (Cyr) Fournier, of Culver City, Calif.; her daughter, Rose Marie St. Onge of Augusta; four grandsons, Bryan and Eric Fournier, also of Culver City, Calif., Jeremy St. Onge and wife, Kim, and Adam and wife, Nicole, of Windsor; along with three great-grandchildren, Parker, Anderson and Ayla St. Onge. Yvette leaves one brother, Dr. Louis Pelletier and his wife, Helene, of Notre Dame du Mont Carmel, Quebec; sisters, Helene St. Pierre and her husband, Dr. Charles St. Pierre, of Lantana, Fla., and Yolande Cyr of West Palm Beach, Fla.; nephews and nieces, especially close were Elisabeth Legrain and her husband, Xavier, of Washington, D.C., and Patricia Legere and her husband, David, of West Palm Beach, Fla. Yvette was predeceased by her brother, George Pelletier of St. Jacques, New Brunswick; her sister, Carmen Netherlands of Jasper, Texas; and her brother-in-law, Philip Cyr. Yvette’s family extends their most gracious appreciation to the entire staff of Maine General Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Augusta, for their loving care and support. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Aug. 27 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and family may call 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Daigle Funeral Home.
