SHERIDAN – Rella R. Caron, 81, passed away Aug. 28, 2009, surrounded by her loving husband and sons. Rella was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Ashland, the daughter of Joseph and Sally May (Marquis) Theriault. Rella worked for Potato Service, Presque Isle, for six years and also for Indian Plywood. She served as the Postmaster in Sheridan for 32 years, retiring in 1997. She was a member of Veterans’ of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Ashland, as well as the NAPUS and NLPUS. Rella loved spending time with her family and enjoyed preparing them delicious meals. Christmas Eve at Memere’s was always a special time for her grandchildren of whom she was very proud. She enjoyed having Raynold take her to Presque Isle to Tim Horton’s and Dunkin’ Donuts, where they shared coffee, conversation and doughnuts with their friends. While working at the Sheridan Post Office, she enjoyed serving her patrons and always treated them with respect and courtesy. Rella was an avid Red Sox fan and she knew all the players and their positions, but did not always agree with the umpires. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Raynold F. Caron of Sheridan; two sons, Randy Caron and his wife, Mary, of Garfield Plantation and Roland Caron and his wife, Linda, of Portage Lake; five special grandchildren, Ryan and his wife, Lynn, Kristina, Reuben, Robin and Rudy; and one great-grandchild, Lexi. She is also survived by a special nephew, Dennis Maddi and his wife, Debbie, and their daughter, Andrea; Darlene Sullivan and her husband, Steve, and their sons, Lance and Steven; and Jamie Turner. Rella helped raise Dennis, Darlene and Jamie. She also leaves behind several other nieces and nephews, as well as many special friends. Rella was mother to hundreds of people because she took care of everyone she befriended. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one sister, Sylina Maddi; and two brothers, Dennis “Dan” Theriault and Ellery Theriault; and by a half brother, William “Bill” Baker. Relatives and friends may call 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday at St. Mark Catholic Church, Ashland. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
