HOULTON – Robert Louis Polchies, 47, passed away Aug. 27, 2009, with his longtime companion of 18 years, Larie Pedersen, by his side at home. He was born March 8, 1962, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, the son of Alex and Roberta (Paul) Polchies. Robert was a member of the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians. He was a good friend to a lot of family and friends, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Robert is survived by his two daughters, Jessi and Misty Polchies, both of Houlton; his son, Jon Douglas; eight grandsons, Keenan, Austin, Bradley, Damon, Nathan, Thomas, Kanron and Shawn; three granddaughters, Mimiguis, Alexis and Sasha; two brothers, Terry Polchies of Bangor and Valentine Polchies of Woodstock, New Brunswick; one sister, Roberta Polchies; three stepchildren, Kylie Clark of Presque Isle, Krystal Caron of Monticello and Karsten Pederson of Houlton; a very special nephew, Christopher Campbell Sr. of Houlton; special sister-in-law, Heidi Caron of Houlton; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Maynard Polchies and Sonny Polchies; and his sister, Beverly Polchies. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday at Robert’s home, 2 Pine Drive, Houlton. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dunn Funeral Home with the Rev. James Gardiner officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
