LUBEC – Francis McKeary, 85, died Aug. 30, 2009, in Bangor. A good and gentle man has died leaving his wife, Eleanor Binda (Currie) McKeary; three sons, Francis and Nancy Spadorcia of Boylston, Mass., John and Cheryl of Washington, and Lawrence and Nancie of Strafford, N.H.; one daughter, Maureen Gage and Richard of Sandown, N.H.; and three grandchildren, Kaylyn of Strafford, N.H., Megan of Boylston, Mass., and Brendan Gage of Sandown, N.H. He was predeceased by two brothers, John of Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada, and Charles of Gin Gin, Queensland, Australia. He has one surviving brother, James of Portpatrick, Scotland; and two sisters, Ann Cole of Helensburgh, Scotland, and Elizabeth Tonner, of Paisley, Scotland. Frank was also stepfather to Rosemary Binda of Lubec, Christine Binda of East Bridgewater, Mass., Lawrence Binda of Marshfield, Mass., Bruce Binda of Chula Vista, Calif., Cecilia Fusco of Wrentham, Mass., and Regina Binda of Warwick, R.I.; stepgrandfather to Susan Olesen of Avoca, N.Y., Mary, Lawrence and Celine Binda of Marshfield, Mass., and Andrew and Lauren Fusco of Wrentham, Mass.; and great-stepgrandfather to Darien and Alexander Olesen of Avoca, N.Y. Frank was a combustion control engineer for Bailey Control Co., before his retirement in 1988. Frank loved to sing and belonged to the choir of Sacred Heart Church, Lubec, where he often cantored. He was also a member of the University of Maine at Machias Chorale, The Salt Singers and the gospel group “Five Alive.” Viewing hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lubec, where a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday with Father Eugene Gaffey, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to Sacred Heart Church, Lubec. Frank loved life yet, when the time came, he embraced death. Godspeed, Frank.
