BREWER – Gerald L. Goody, 73, husband of Mary M. (Cronin) Goody, died unexpectedly Aug. 31, 2009, at his home. He was born Jan. 17, 1936, in Brewer, the son of Allie J. and Albertine M. (Breton) Goody. “Jerry,” as he was known, was a graduate of John Bapst High School and at the age of 17, was the youngest in the state to have a private pilot license. He was a lifelong resident of Brewer and was a lifelong communicant of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, Brewer, where he served as a sacristan and sang in the choir for many years. Jerry was self-employed in auto body repair for many years owning and operating Goody’s Auto Body, Brewer. He served 41 years with the Maine Army National Guard, retiring as a chief warrant officer four. Jerry was also a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 51 years of Brewer, are five children, Patricia Rutter and her companion, David Nichols, of Bangor, Scott Goody of Bangor, William Goody and his fiancee, Jen Hambrock, of Orrington, Leigh Anne Tracy and her husband, Michael, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Thomas Goody and his companion, Annette Falone, of Argyle; three grandchildren, Samantha Hammond of Eddington, John Rutter of Orrington and Jessica Goody of Stockton Springs; two stepgrandchildren, Dustin Worcester of Nebraska and Chelsea Tilley of Argyle; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Grace Hammond; one great-stepgrandson, Kostan Hurley; one brother, Raymond Goody and his wife, Anne, of Bangor; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; a daughter, Cindy; twin granddaughters, Jamie and Cathy Goody; a sister, Rita Vifquain; and a brother, Paul Goody. Family and friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Friday at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Brewer, with a time of fellowship afterward at the parish center.
