FORT KENT – Keith H. Lambert, 94, beloved husband of 67 years to Madeleine (Cyr) Lambert, died Sept. 3, 2009, surrounded by family at his residence. He was born Oct. 8, 1914, in Alfred, the third son of 13 children born to Milton B. and Mildred (Allen) Lambert. Keith was a graduate of Houlton High School and attended the University of Maine at Farmington. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps and served his country in the Pacific Theatre. Keith was one of six family members to serve their country in World War II. He worked for the U.S. Civil Service as an immigration officer for 35 years, retiring in 1977. Later, he was appointed as Aroostook County commissioner in 1979 and served in this capacity for three terms. Keith was active in the Fort Kent Democratic Party serving as chairman. He was also a member of the VFW and American Legion. Keith was a past member of Northern Aroostook Atlantic Salmon Association. He was an avid sportsman enjoying fly-fishing, hunting and spending much of his time at his camp at Beau Lake. He especially loved his successful moose hunt that took place in 2007. Keith loved all sports and never missed a game of any New England team. He continued to enjoy watching the Red Sox up until his last day. He is survived by two sons, Deane and his wife, Jacqueline, of Caribou, and Gary of Fort Kent; one daughter, Gayle and her husband, John LaBrie, of Fort Kent; one sister, Joyce Saunders of Houlton; four grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Kristyn LaBrie, Brian Lambert and wife, Kim, Lisa O’Connor and husband, Chad, and Greg Lambert and special friend, Beth Achille; along with four great-grandchildren, Meagan, Garrett, Carter and Jordan. Keith is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Tom; two sisters, Crete and Jean; and nine brothers namely Winston, Blaine, Deane, Milton Jr., Don, Bryce, Neil, Clair and Duane. Keith will be certainly missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday, Sept. 11, at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Committal services with full military honors will be held after at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
