WELLS – Constance “Connie” Daigle Zahares, 86, passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Gosnell Hospice Home after a long illness. She was born in New Brunswick, the daughter of Thomas H. and Anna H. Goodwin Flowers. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in New Brunswick. Connie worked as an accountant for 10 years and retired from Portland Water District. She also worked as a credit manager for jewelry stores in New Hampshire and for Maine Benefit Planners, Wells. She lived in Wells for 32 years. Connie loved socializing, parties and traveling the world, especially Germany, where she lived for one year and returned three times with her loving husband, Sid. She was an avid reader, loved the Red Sox and relaxing with a Bloody Mary. She enjoyed her extended family and spending time with them. She loved her cat Dolly No. 2 and all of the cats she had throughout the years. She was predeceased by her first husband, Herman A. Daigle. Connie is survived by her husband, Sidney R. Zahares of Wells; a son, Lawrence S. Daigle of York, Pa.; three grandsons, Scott Daigle of Boca Raton, Fla., Troy Daigle and his wife, Angela, of Limington and Adam Daigle and his wife, Liz, of Portland; a granddaughter, Becky Daigle of York, Pa.; two great-granddaughters, Sarah and Elizabeth Daigle; one great-grandson, Alexander Fogle; Sidney’s children, Wayne Zahares of Merrimac, N.H., Norene Ward of Cumberland and Michael Zahares of San Jose, Calif.; and Sidney’s grandchildren, Terry Perdikes of Alstown, N.H., Todd Zahares of Freeport and Jennifer Horenziak of Cincinnati. She also leaves her devoted sister-in-law, Lida Zahares; and close friend, Nancy Plaisted. She will be sadly missed by Debbie and Gail Day of Presque Isle. Visiting hours will be 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Blais & Hay Funeral Home, 35 Church St., Westbrook, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Interment will be after at St. Hyacinth Cemetery, Westbrook.
