ARLINGTON, Va. – Leona M. Lord passed away Sept. 5, 2009, of complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Mrs. Lord was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Abbott, the youngest child of George Pratt and Lillian West Pratt. She spent her entire career in fulfillment of her childhood desire to be a teacher. Immediately after World War II, she married R. Linwood Lord of Brownville, to whom she was married for 51 years. Mrs. Lord is survived by a sister, Thelma West of Brownville; two children, Cheryl Lord of Cleveland and Kendall Lord of Arlington, Va.; two married grandsons, Christopher and Mandy Lord of Arlington, Va., and Jesse and Suzie Lord of Reston, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
