OLD TOWN and New BRUNSWICK – Edna Marie Currier, 97, died peacefully Sept. 15, 2009, at a Houlton health care facility. She was born Oct. 4, 1911, in Foreston, New Brunswick, a daughter of Frederick and Beatrice (McElhinney) Harvey. Edna was the last member of her generation, as she was predeceased by her husband and seven siblings. She was a retail sales associate for many years having been employed at Rhines and Cortell Segal stores. She loved to knit, especially creating afghans and sweater sets. She is survived by her daughter, Marie Edna McGuire; son-in-law, Keith Morton; seven grandchildren, Harold McGuire, Linda Richard and her husband, Claude, Barbara Anderson and her husband, Barry, Brenda LaPointe and her husband, Ray, Lloyd McGuire and wife, Joan, Jane Diduch and her husband, Chris, and Gerald McGuire and his wife, Denise; 13 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Currier; her daughter, Birdie Morton; son-in-law, Corbett McGuire; five sisters, Marion Tomkins, Maye Gray, Beaulah Ervine, Lena Hughes and Ruth Noddin; and two brothers, Harold and Frank Harvey. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with the Rev. Bruce Stevens officiating Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Old Town. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
