LIMESTONE – Albert Sloan, 80, passed away Sept. 17, 2009, at Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born June 9, 1929, in Limestone, the son of Hilkiah and Emma (Thompson) Sloan. Albert was a graduate of Limestone High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He then went on to a 35-year career as a computer systems analyst at Loring Air Force Base. Albert was active for many years in the Limestone Jaycees and served several terms on Limestone School Board. He also served on the board of The County Federal Credit Union. Albert is predeceased by his wife, Jacquelyn in 2004; and by a sister, Geneva “Sally” Mead of Presque Isle. He is survived by his daughter, Patrice Leavitt and her husband, John, of Cumberland; two brothers, Allen Sloan of Winslow and Phillip Sloan and his wife, Janet, of Andover, Mass.; four sisters, Beverly Bryant of Caribou, Patricia Boltseridge of Beverly, N.J., Mae Daniels of Sanford and Pauline Spivey and her husband, Troy, of Wichita Falls, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sept. 22 at Limestone Methodist Church with Pastor Ellen Cleaves officiating. A private interment will be at St. Louis Cemetery.
