CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. – Aaron John Marquis, 36, peacefully passed away Sept. 18, 2009, at Madigan Army Medical Center, Fort Lewis, Wash. Aaron was born Jan. 7, 1973, in Millinocket. After his graduation from Stearns High School in 1991, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and began an 18-year career during which time he traveled to many diverse ports of call and duty stations. At the time of his death, he had attained through his hard work and diligence the rank of EN1, or engineman first class. Anyone who knew Aaron soon realized that he had a real passion for making anything go bigger, better and faster. By far the greatest gift he received during his career came in 1996 when he met his future wife, Kandice, also a U.S. Navy veteran. Together they created a loving home on Camano Island, Wash., where they made many great friends, and enjoyed all that this area has to offer by way of fishing, hunting and camping. Aaron had been recently posted at Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory. In addition to his wife, Kandice, Aaron is survived by his mother, Susan Stout of Glenburn and her husband, Jim Stout. He leaves three sisters, Karen Clark and her husband, Shawn and their daughters, Keeley and Savanna, of Hermon, Jeanne Bartlett and her husband, Roman and their sons, Landen and Emerson, of Harvard, Mass., and Andrea Cutler and her husband, Ben Cutler of Veazie. He is survived by his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Anne Flanagan of Brewer; his uncle, Michael Flanagan and fiancee, Nathalie Dube, of Hollis Center and children, Thomas and Ashley Flanagan, of Waterville; his uncle, Kevin Flanagan and wife, Sylvia and cousin, Ryan Flanagan, of Brunswick; and his loving godmother, Peggy Jamieson of Millinocket. He is also survived by Clayton Malone and his children and families. He was predeceased by his father, John Bernard Marquis in 1996. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Camano Lutheran Cemetery, Camano Island, Wash. Memorials may be made to John B.
