BANGOR – Gary M. Doughty, 67, passed away Sept. 21, 2009, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family and the Rev. Carlson at a Bangor nursing center. He was born July 19, 1942, in Bangor, the son of Roscoe F. and Maude I. (Ramsdell) Doughty. He grew up on Birch Street where he loved and enjoyed his family immensely. In later life, Gary’s family grew larger and he always shared his love with his nieces and nephews of whom he was very proud – he was always telling a story or two of how great they were with his sisters and brothers and anyone else he may be talking with. Gary’s greatest joy was his family and they all knew it. Gary attended Bangor schools and worked as a mason for many years in various locations. He loved his work and took a great deal of pride in what he did. He enjoyed numerous activities, which included pool, cards, dancing, camping, and all kinds of music, including Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed driving around the city of Bangor taking historical pictures of places that had nostalgic value to him. His van provided him with great pleasure and enabled him to travel about freely to add to his photo collection. He had a wall of pictures dedicated to his family in his Brewer apartment for many years. Anyone that entered his apartment could see exactly how much his family meant to him. Surviving are his siblings, Percy Doughty and his wife, Nancy, of Hermon, Carmen Clark and her husband, Norman, of Glenburn, Donna Honey and her husband, Denny, of Bangor, and Shirley Harrison of Hermon; many nieces and nephews who will always remember him with sincere love and admiration. He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Marvin and Ervin Doughty. Gary and his family sincerely appreciated the wonderful care provided by Dr. Ritter and his staff throughout the many years. He went above and beyond his duties as a physician. Gary had given all of his family much love and many wonderful memories that will remain forever in their hearts. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor, where a service honoring his life will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, with the Rev. Robert Carlson, presiding. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. For those who wish memorial contributions may be made Champion the Cure, care of Healthcare Charities, P.O.
