WARWICK, N.Y., and ELLSWORTH – Albert X. Hemmerlin, 93, died Sept. 23, 2009, at Schervier Pavillion, Warwick, N.Y. He was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Garfield, N.J., the son of Xavier and Marie (Steiger) Hemmerlin. Mr. Hemmerlin ran his own piano tuning, violin repair and restoration business. He was an accomplished concert violinist and teacher having studied at the Paris Conservatory. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. He is survived by his sons, Jeff and wife, Cindy, of Branchville, N.J., and David and wife, Lisa, of West Milford, N.J.; daughters, Ruth Asare and Margaret Hemmerlin; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie (Woolf) Hemmerlin in 2004. Friends are invited to call 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, with Father Scott Mower, celebrant.
