BANGOR – Bertha A. Dennis, 91, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born April 18, 1918, in Cherryfield, daughter of Max and Bella Dennis. Bertha will always be remembered as a kind and loving person with a great sense of humor. She thoroughly enjoyed life and her family was the most important thing in her life. Bertha dedicated her life to her family business, Dennis Bottling and Beverage Co. of Ellsworth, and helped build it into Dennis Paper and Food Service Co. located in Bangor today. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Lena Dennis of Bangor; nephews, Ronald Dennis and his wife, Rose and their children, Shaina and Mariah, of Hampden, Mark Dennis and his wife, Kim and their children, Josh and Joseph, of Saco, Hayden Dennis and his children, Shawn and Aaron, of Bangor and Dennis Slon of California; and a niece, Stephanie Murphy of Washington. In addition to her parents, Bertha was predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Dennis; sister, Betsy Slon; and a niece, Michele Dennis. A graveside service was held 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bangor, with Rabbi Steven Schwarzman officiating.
