MEDWAY – Myrtle F. Brackett, 80, wife of the late Alfred J. Brackett, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, surrounded by her family at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born April 12, 1929, in Siberia, Maine, the youngest child of 12 born to John and Georgie (Curtis) Cullens. Myrtle was a member of Tri Town Baptist Church, East Millinocket, and loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and entire family. She is survived by two sons, Terry Brackett and Jamie Brackett of Medway; a daughter, Joleen and James Murray of Medway; a daughter-in-law, Glenna Stevens; a brother, William Cullen and his wife, Edna, of Stacyville; a brother-in-law, Sherley Brackett and his wife, Carolee, of Mattawamkeag; 12 grandchildren, Jeffrey and Alana Ladd, Ricky Ladd and his girlfriend, Amanda Taylor, Jason Ladd and his wife, Amber, Jon Ladd, all of Medway, Joshua and Megan Ladd of Brewer, Jasmyn Murray of Medway, Susan and Philip Perkins, Melissa Brackett and Terry Brackett Jr., all of Medway, Lance Brackett of Bangor, Darcy Brackett of Rhode Island, Chad and Daisy Brackett of Medway; 17 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will also be missed and remembered by her church family at Tri Town Baptist Church. Myrtle will also be sadly missed by her three feline friends, Chip Chop, Fat Girl and Sissy. In addition to her parents and husband, Myrtle was predeceased by two sons, Ricky in 1982 and Allen in 1994; a daughter-in-law, Sheralee Brackett in 1995; five sisters and five brothers. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Lamson Funeral Home, 17 Western Ave., East Millinocket. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Tri Town Baptist Church, 8 Cone St., East Millinocket, with Pastor Dave Chicoine officiating. Interment will be at Grindstone Cemetery, Medway.
