WINTER HARBOR – David Russell Daley, “Martin,” 43, passed away Sept. 27, 2009, at the Ellsworth hospital, after a courageous seven-year battle with multiple sclerosis. He was born April 1, 1966, in Bar Harbor, the son of Sandra (Piper) Daley of Winter Harbor and the late Reynold C. Daley, who died in 1996. David was a graduate of Sumner Memorial High School, Class of 1984. He was fondly referred to as “Martin” by close friends, since his childhood years. Before his illness, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and going “upta” camp with his buddies. In addition to his mother, family members include his son, David R. Daley II of Hancock and Winter Harbor; a sister, Nanette Hadlock and husband, Roy and their daughter, Hannah Folsom, of Islesford; and a brother, Todd Daley Sr. and his wife, Nicky and their children, Todd Jr. and Grace, of Gouldsboro. He will be sadly missed by his caregivers, Mona Trombley and Nancy Cowperthwaite; by close friends, Larry “Bub” Smith, Danny Backman and Greg Jordan; as well as other friends and family. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Hammond Hall, Winter Harbor, with Pastor William Somerville, officiating. Burial will be after at South Gouldsboro Cemetery.
